Morning alights upon the Huatung Valley of Taiwan, home to the indigenous Amis people. Birds sing, welcoming the sun as it gently awakens the hills, heard in a radiant orchestral crescendo. An innocent and playful dance begins in the strings and woodwinds, and develops into a graceful andante section, exemplifying the femininity of the young Amis ladies. The melody is light and simple, but with surprisingly complex orchestration, reflecting the intricacy of traditional Amis music.
